Caller: text message from the number

Scammer uses seller mobile number listed on Gumtree to send a text message offering to buy the advertised item, then requests for Pay ID or bank details to pay for the item but when the bank details are provided will text message a Paysend link with a request to accept the link by tapping the link to preview. If you do so you are compromised. The flags - There was an urgency to pay for the listed item , text messages are AI generated and are received after hours in the middle of the night. STAY SAFE FROM THESE SCAMMERS.

Same as everyone else. I listed an item on Gumtree and got an almost instant text message requesting cost for postage etc. Said he/she lived in St Kilda. When told that I had looked up the number on scam watch sites, the final message was that he/she was flat out at work and would message me later, but it was a genuine offer. I don't use Payid and have never heard of Paysend, but glad everyone on this forum had reported the scam. I'm now just having fun texting at all times of the day and night to be just as annoying as he/she has been to everyone else. Interestingly, I'm not getting a response anymore!

Exactly as described. Gumtree ad, near immediate response. Can't pickup immediately but will arrange payment through PayID/Paysend. PayID is via mobile which he has from the ad, so no extra details required I told him. Text messages sounded very chirpy and friendly, at this stage, I checked his number and found the reviews here. Thank you for reporting. I haven't receive any PaySend links yet but will be blocking him immediately if I get that reply.

He messed me because I am selling something on Gumtree. Asked if I he could pay by PayId to which I said yes.
I then got ma message and a link from Paysend. When I clicked on it, it asked for my bank account details and what was my bank balance!!

This person is still using Gumtree AU and using the same tactic to retrieve the info to scam your accounts.🤦🏼‍♀️I sent him a reply advising that, he should get a real job. Cause his scamming skills are piss poor. I also will be reporting this to gumtree.

HEED all warning in this report platform. I have just had the exact interaction as described in this report page. Scammer will request your phone number from a public buy/sell (Gumtree.com.au) platform and send you a text message requesting "PayID" as a method of payment. Be aware, scammer will send text messages and as your respond scammer takes upto several minutes to reply each time, this indicates for AI controlled messaging.
Good news is I have got scammers account blocked from the platform in question.

Thankfully I looked this number up. All comments here are true. Had this scammer send the same message to my mobile. Scammer requesting PayID and I told them I do not have PayID but persisted with "PayID" request. Scammer takes several minutes in-between sending text messages back and forth. Sent scammer screenshots of this scam report then seems to have ghosted me after that.

Gumtree scammer, talked like a normal person but insisting payment through Paysend

Sounded genuine at first, but then wanted me to send details via Paysend.
The moment I said I didn't know anything about Paysend and that they could either pay when picked up or use the EFTPOS / Card then - I got ghosted.
Suspect it was a scammer but can see how easy it is to get caught out by one like this as they were really convicing to start with
