I received an SMS message from NSWLOTTERY (sic), on my cell phone, with the following message: $10M Oz Lotto! Grab an entry in-store, online or via the Lott App now! NSW Lotteries http://bit.ly/ozlotto2. Play Responsibly. Optout:TXT STOP to 0429 542 184. The 'bit.ly' in the web address is a dead giveaway that this is a scam. GUYS, DON'T EVER REPLY TO ANY MESSAGE WITH "bit.ly" IN THE ADDRESS. THEY ARE ALL SCAMS! There are all kinds of scams flying thick and fast through all forms of electronic comms these days; at best you'll be signed up to a premium service and billed for nothing every month, and at worst, you'll have your personal details compromised and identity stolen. I've reported to Scamwatch, for what it's worth. Just delete if you receive any sort of message like this; these scammers all work on the "one born every minute" principle. FMD I'm sick of these prix!!!!

These SMS messages come in every time one of the big numbers games has a big prize draw coming up. I have received 3 of them in quick succession from 'NSWLOTTERY" pretending to the official Australian Lotteries (https//thelot.com). These a**holes work on the 'one born every minute' principal which obviously works due to the avaricious nature of a lot of people when a lot of money for very little is in the offing. I received the latest messages on March 15th for $30M Powerball, March 22 for $40M Powerball, and latest one on March 23 2018 for $20M Superdraw. Website, http://bit.ly prefix followed by 3powerball for the first two, then Sat3L for the latest. EVERYONE OUT THERE! BE WARNED THAT ANY WEBSITE WITH bit.ly IN THE WEB ADDRESS IS A SCAM, AND DON'T EVER REPLY TO IT. The phone number given to opt out is 0429 542 184. I rang it from a private number, and got the message, "this number is not connected". Sure fire confirmation that this is a FKN SCAM. I wish ScamWatch would actually do something about them; same with Telstra who I have also reported this scam to (to no avail).

NSW Lotteries don't have to call individuals to advertise. It's another scam because Australians are naive

Text supposedly from Golden casket for their Gold Lotto Cashcade Celebrations saying to grab an entry instore, online or hit the link for the lotto app. Looks like a legitimate text except for the bit.ly in the link. I typed the link into my pc and it looks real but obviously isn't. Strangely, the text stop to optout reply cant be delivered. Yet another scam.

Caller: Lottery scam - do not click links! First time text received from this (fake/spoofed) number just this morning.
It’s a scam, pretending to be the NSW lottery. It contains a shortened link (bit.ly) disguising the address of a malicious website. Do not click on the link.
Reported to the ACMA.

Hey, d*ckhead scammers. If you’re reading this: Australian lotto doesn’t spam text. It doesn’t help that you’re really stupid scammers and don’t know the first thing about Australia. But thanks for playing. To OPTOUT of Australia, just let the ground swallow you up.
