Caller: More than likely a scammer

Text came from this number claiming to be Probe Debt collectors acting for the ATO. Judging from the above they use number for all manner of scams...

For some reason these scammers got my home address f*ck off.

"We visited (...my address...) & were unable to read Water Meter No.MASR068656. To avoid an estimated bill, call 1800 316 607 within 2 days & quote meter No. & Reading (Black Numbers only)"

Its an indian or pakistani pretending to be an ATO tax debt collector working from an apartment in Sydney sending text messages to gullible people, women, pensioners, etc. Ignore it. Oh, and welcome to diversity.

I received a text message from this same mobile number today purporting to be from the Greater Melbourne water, they cannot access my property to do the reading and to give me reading to avoid a wrong charge, I thought it was genuine I rang up, a lady picked up the phone, she pretended to be genuine and even had the nerve to say how scams made it hard for them to get through the building, next thing at night after afew hours, her bloody number popped up on my mobile as if she was now the new proud owner.
I was livid and called my provider immediately to report and block her.
It’s disgusting that even during a pandemic people take advantage of hard times to scam others into misery

Caller: Greater Western Water

I received this text:
“We visited <MY ADDRESS> & were unable to read Water Meter No. MA680511. To avoid an estimated bill, call 1800 316 607 within 2 days & quote Meter No. & Reading (Black Numbers Only). Please ignore if reading already provided. Please do not reply by text. Thank you, Greater Western Water.”

It genuinely was from Greater Western Water.
I called them to check, using the number on their website.

I received this text:

These f*ckers had my actual address. I was home all day so there’s no way for me to miss anyone coming to my place for a water meter reading.

Caller: 0429 133 751

Apparently from 'Probe'. SMS sent a few weeks ago. Received another SMS today with the same message but the number wasn't showing it automatically came up with 'Probe' instead of a number.

Caller - Probe Group on behalf of the ATO.
Asking to call 1800 721 111 and Quote DT 6833811.
Fake ATO debt collectors.

The same problem here. States to be from Australian Taxation office.
Wants me to call 1800 721 111 and quote a number...

Received a text saying, "Hi (name), the Australian Taxation Office has referred an important matter to Probe. Please call 1800 721 111 and quote DT6586142."

Believe it's a scam.

Caller: Phishing scam pretending to be the ATO

Have been contacted numerous times. They claim to be from the ATO and opening an investigation. Each contact attempt they address by a different name, as if hoping to get it right by chance.

Pretty sure a scam! I recieved this message, first of all, im not MINA and secondly definitely a scam had one a few months ago with the name Chris, so 🤷🏻‍♀️

Caller: SMS - allegedly from Probe Group

SMS received - "H Michael, the Australian Taxation Office has referred an important matter to The Probe Group. Please call 1800 721 111 and quote DT6205057". I had a previous SMS on 28 June - same message but asking me to call a different number - the 1300 171 513 number mentioned in other comments. A quick phone call and internet search at that time led me to believe this is a scam attempt to elicit personal information.

Scam.

I am a Pensioner, so don't pay tax... scammer.
