Above was the original text message from the number. Looked suspicious. I did not click on the link.

Just received a message from this number, telling me to call (02) 8006 6939, another known scam number.

Caller: SMS from 0424 895 602

Scammer: ATO: "Hi you are suspected in Tax Evasion. To avoid penalty of $9,800AUD Visit https://ato.gov.au.verify-wallet.info/ and connect your cryptocurrency wallet."
I note from this forum they also catfish for Amazon, Paypal and ANZ. Surely Telstra or Optus can trace the origins of this SMS and commence criminal proceedings for deceptive use of a carriage device.

SMS text saying: "Payment Alert: You've paid A$1299.99 to PayPal*INC to Intellect Co. Ltd." To dispute payment ring them.

I also received a SMS from Amazon about an purchase by someone and then a SMS with a second from ANZ to check it and cancel

Scam text message asking for a call back, pretending to be from PayPal.

I also just received similar PayPal scam

scammer. Text saying I had a large purchase in Amazon & a risk was detected. Cancel immediately with ANZ https.

Texted me saying I had been sent a payment of $1,000, and asked me to call a number for help.

Caller: Not identified

I received a phone message saying I had "sent a payment of $1500.00AUD" that day. It asked that if I hadn't done it, to call 1800 955 876 "for refund".

Text saying i bought a macbook from amazon for a large amount of money.

Scammer : you will receive a message saying you purchase an item ( huge amount) and your payment has been processed ( any dispute you need to call this 1800 number)
