Text message asking to email only about gumtree item for sale. Scam. this person texts me after I advertising gumtree item for sale: here his said:
Hi mate my father is keen to buy your bike on gumtree kindly write him back on seths19734 @ gmail.com for correspondence.Cheers.
After I email to his father this what I got:
Thanks for the reply mate, I'm fine with the condition as described on the advert, I won't be available to view because I’m recovering from surgery and my phone is not active as I am still at the hospital after. can you assure me i will not be disappointed? also no shipment involved as i have a mover that will come for it., but there are few things i would like to know about it. (1) are you the first owner (2)Let me know its condition (3)Your last asking price (4)send me the pictures.
As regards the payment, I can pay you through direct bank deposit (EFT),using PayPal instant bank wire transfer service, I will need your bank details and I will make the payment through PayPal facility to your bank account, all I will need is your acct number, BSB number and acct name. With the issue of my details, transferring the name of ownership and signing of all paperwork will be done by the freight agent so you don't have to worry about that.
Sound like SCAM asking my bank detail..

Gumtree ads listed then text saying:
"Hi my mom would like to know if you still have your item for sale Kindly write her back at (shieldsd330 @ gmail.com) Cheers" for sure a scam !
Exactly the same as below but from a different number 0421 811 774. Twice now after Gumtree ads listed:
"Hi my mom would like to know if you still have your item for sale Kindly write her baak with your best at (shieldsd330 @ gmail.com) Cheers"
SCAM. I posted an ad to Gumtree. They texted me an hour later:
"I'm interested in your iPhone still up for sale. What is your asking price? pls email me on (kburgess570 @ gmail.com).
Lucky I googled the number - I thought it was very weird they were asking for price as the price was listed already. And asking to email separately - big red flag.
Yet another use of this number asking for an email. Fair dinkum, I wish there was some kind of way to prosecute these people.
The text said, "Hi, Just viewed your furniture on Gumtree still available for sale kindly please get back to me via my private email address (jessru28 @ gmail.com).
Same as the above complaints - likely a scam.
Scam text to phone. Scammer wanted to purchase item on Gumtree. He claimed to be too busy with work, buying item for poor cousin. Then said he has courier company that will pick up item but wants me to buy $200 Google Play gift cards and will reimburse me. Said courier company only accepts Google Play card. Definitely suspicious & SCAM.
