I rang Bupa on their regular ph no. and they said the Text Message was legitimate and advised me to reply 'yes' to it. I didn't have to supply any further details as they use the bank account details they already have in their files. The text was just to confirm that is the account you wish the money to be paid in to. - AnonymousMay 3, 2022SMSAustralia

I got the text message from Bupa on 0418 793 642 asking to reply 'Yes' to receive a refund into the bank account that my premiums are paid from.
On checking back, I had received an email from Bupa previously.

I replied 'Yes' as the alternative to fill in a form at https://my.bupa.com.au/give-back-form would require a lot more effort. I'll let you know if my cashback payment turns up. - AnonymousMay 11, 2022SMSAustralia

Same thing as above, and I simply blocked them. Whether or not it is legitimate is not determined, but it is best to be safe than sorry. I did not reply nor did I ring them up. Just going to bypass that one, cause as said, best to be safe than sorry. - AnonymousMay 11, 2022SMSAustralia

Received an SMS as described by other commenters. The sender appeared to have my correct bank account details already (with only the last 4 digits included in the text). I was asked to reply 'yes' to have a payment sent to that account.
It looks sus, but after investigating it, I'm pretty sure it's genuine. First I've heard of this payment, but I ignore most communications from Bupa :). Their web site describes it on this page: https://www.bupa.com.au/giveback
I sent them a confirmation via their web site rather than replying to the text, to be safe.
It's a weird question, as why would they imagine I might want my payment sent to a different account than the one they take money out of? If that's the account they have access to, obviously they should just pay it in there without bothering me. Now I've wasted half an hour investigating a suspicious-looking text. - JDMay 11, 2022UnknownAustralia
It is a SCAM. BLOCK 🚫 AND DELETE. DO NOT OPEN AND DO NOT ENGAGE. - AnonymousMay 10, 2022UnknownAustralia
Text message re eligible for a COVID-19 claims savings payment. I Checked on the Bupa website and there is a form there - Give back form. It is secure and you can just nominate the account you already use without putting any account info in there.
Not sure if the text message is legit but think it is better to go directly on their website. - AnonymousMay 6, 2022UnknownAustralia

Also received a text message claiming to be Bupa. They even knew the last 4 digits to my account. This is a scam, Bupa would never request access to my bank account.
The message "last year we let you know you were eligible for a COVID-19 claims savings payment. We didn't hear from you on the account to pay this to. To authorise us to use the bank account you pay your premium with ending with ####, for this payment and any future give back payments please reply 'Yes' Team Bupa. - RobMay 6, 2022SMSAustralia
