I rang Bupa on their regular ph no. and they said the Text Message was legitimate and advised me to reply 'yes' to it. I didn't have to supply any further details as they use the bank account details they already have in their files. The text was just to confirm that is the account you wish the money to be paid in to. Caller: Supposedly Bupa
Text Message said wanting bank account details for refund.
They said it was from Bupa covid-19 payment eligibility scam text received 10May22 Caller: BUPA
Spoke to Bupa, they advised me received a ton of calls regarding text message. This is legitimate, no need to ignore or suspect as spam. Better safe than sorry, hence my call to them. Hope my comment helps ease the minds of many.
I got the text message from Bupa on 0418 793 642 asking to reply 'Yes' to receive a refund into the bank account that my premiums are paid from.
On checking back, I had received an email from Bupa previously.
There is also information on the Bupa website and other news sites.
I replied 'Yes' as the alternative to fill in a form at https://my.bupa.com.au/give-back-form would require a lot more effort. I'll let you know if my cashback payment turns up.
Caller: Supposedly Bupa
Same thing as above, and I simply blocked them. Whether or not it is legitimate is not determined, but it is best to be safe than sorry. I did not reply nor did I ring them up. Just going to bypass that one, cause as said, best to be safe than sorry.
Covid 19 claims text message received from Bupa. Caller: BUPA
I received text message as well. I have called BUPA to check this number if it was BUPA and they have confirmed it was them.
Received an SMS as described by other commenters. The sender appeared to have my correct bank account details already (with only the last 4 digits included in the text). I was asked to reply 'yes' to have a payment sent to that account.
It looks sus, but after investigating it, I'm pretty sure it's genuine. First I've heard of this payment, but I ignore most communications from Bupa :). Their web site describes it on this page: https://www.bupa.com.au/giveback
I sent them a confirmation via their web site rather than replying to the text, to be safe.
It's a weird question, as why would they imagine I might want my payment sent to a different account than the one they take money out of? If that's the account they have access to, obviously they should just pay it in there without bothering me. Now I've wasted half an hour investigating a suspicious-looking text.
It is a SCAM. BLOCK 🚫 AND DELETE. DO NOT OPEN AND DO NOT ENGAGE. Text message re eligible for a COVID-19 claims savings payment. I Checked on the Bupa website and there is a form there - Give back form. It is secure and you can just nominate the account you already use without putting any account info in there.
Not sure if the text message is legit but think it is better to go directly on their website.

Text message saying I was eligible for a COVID-19 claim saving payment. Just need me to text YES to authorise them paying the money in to my bank account. Supposedly from Team BUPA.
Also received a text message claiming to be Bupa. They even knew the last 4 digits to my account. This is a scam, Bupa would never request access to my bank account.
The message "last year we let you know you were eligible for a COVID-19 claims savings payment. We didn't hear from you on the account to pay this to. To authorise us to use the bank account you pay your premium with ending with ####, for this payment and any future give back payments please reply 'Yes' Team Bupa.
