SCAM.
Supposedly from AGL but I checked with AGL and it didn't come from them!

AGL advance notification of automatic bill payment (gas , electricity)

I received the SMS from this number as follows:
"Your AGL Electricity bill of $170.93 (GST incl.) is overdue. Reply 1 if you're making this payment in the next 14 days. If you've already paid, reply 2. If you're experiencing difficulty due to COVID-19 we are able to help. Visit agl.com.au/coronavirus to find out more."
I checked my account balance on the ACTewAGL website and made sure there was no overdue at the moment. Then, I called customer service and made sure that the SMS was not from the ACTewAGL (in addition, the message did not include any reference number that the ACTewAGL usually put).
As a result, it is a scam message.

I initially thought this number was a scam but appears NOT. In looking at my txt messages I have been getting these every 3 month as my AGL bill is due. They mention the correct amount due each time so appears to be legit

Said my DD would be coming out on 24th December - I don't even have an AGL account.

Claims to be AGL but its not!. Adds a link to follow to pay an over due Bill. But i checked my AGL account online and i dont have an outstanding bill. AGL said it wasnt from them. Do not reply! Do not click on link!

Text saying I've paid the wrong AGL account. If I press 1 they will 'fix' it for me...

SCAM!!!!!

I am off grid, so definitely not genuine

Also received message from this number claiming to be AGL. Letting me know I had one account in debit and one account in credit and would I like to transfer the money over and to press 1 if so. Firstly, I always receive a message from AGL, not a private number. AGL could find to note of a text being sent and believe this is a scam.

Text said money was paid into the wrong account. Too funny! No it was not. This is a SCAM!!!!!!

Power Direct texted to say my bill was overdue. The correct full amount was there before discount applied. Because it was overdue they needed the full amount. Tried calling the number said it was unavailable, strange. Called the 1300 number and did not owe them anything the payment went through before Christmas and I did have the receipt to prove it.

I don't have an AGL ACCOUNT, obviously a scammer !!!!!

Claiming this morning 8th march 2021 "Your AGL Electricity Direct Debit payment of $528.12 (GST included) is due 10/03/2021 to make changes go to agl.com.au/DD.

You'd expect as soon as this happens, that the real "AGL Electricity Direct Debit payment" department to have a computer-engine to track down illegal appearance of "AGL" and quickly reveal actual hackers, but lets enjoy the threatening confusion, so that corporations can play both sides of the fence/farce/fraud/fake news

I received a TXT reminding me about my bill and when it was due, I get them every 3 months so it appears to be genuine.

ya,this is scam...i received 2 bills from AGL...very confusing....they should be caught and punished....also anotherno.is.0416 906 991...same scam from AGL....

Definitely a scam pretending to be from AGL. I checked my bill nothing close to the fake amount they put. If you get a text from this number check with your actual energy provider
