Appeared on WhatsApp. Message began with "Hey dad, I dropped my phone in the loo and had to buy a new one. I have lost all my photos and files. You can save this number to your phone as my contact." My response "Who is this?" Answer: "Your oldest." My response "You're all old - which one?" Answer: "Son." My response "Ah, John." Answer - Yes (with smiling emoji) My response - I don't have a son"
Have had not more interaction. Beware spammers potentially aiming for older phone numbers potentially to 'boomers'.

Caller: 0416 103 673 on WhatsApp. Message was "Hey Mum, I dropped my phone in the loo and had to buy a new one. I have lost all my photos and files. You can save this number to your phone as my contact." After interacting with scammer was eventually asked to pay $4000 bill. Very believable as daughter overseas, they seemed to know this information..
