Tried to scam me via Gumtree - there running a scam by trying to get you accept payment via an australia post link by communicating through whatsapp..

Be careful out there people

Another SMS scam link sent to me. Block this number immediately

Had an ad on Gumtree, she replied via WhatsApp, she said she has organised with Auspost to send a courier to pickup just to send through card details to pay for it. The auspost site looked legit, had the Auspost logo with the lock, also the secure form etc

2 attempts. First was no profile pic, second was with "lady with dog" pic. Both through Whatsapp. From a Gumtree add.

Very targeted, includes exact amount expected on the phishing webpage. Has set up the auspost.ltd domain name to auto-forward to the auspost.com.au domain so it appears more legit.

Same story as the others - contacted on WhatsApp from a gumtree add, I googled the auspost door to door service she was suggesting and found nothing, therefore was suspicious. Very smooth approach and hard to spot

Messaged me on WhatsApp to buy item on gumtree using same deal as above claiming to pay me via auspost. Opened link and they wanted my credit card number. I asked why and she claimed it was for insurance and payment control. I responded to that with “bullsh*t” and no further responses received. Yep a scam

Same sh*t as all the other comments, I called them out straight away and haven't heard back. Via whatsapp and can't believe this person is still active and has not been caught or shut down yet. It's a f*cking joke!!

I’ve reported this a**hole to Scamwatch. Seemed legit, until I got sent the link to give my credit card details. Why hasn’t this number been barred? I’m going to sort this

Claimed to wanna buy my stuffs listed on Gumtree and offered to use AusPost "Make a safe deal" service by sending me a link to claim her payment then AusPost courier will pick up from me, she even sent an AusPost screenshot for it, but upon googling I found that AusPost doesn't offer such a service so it's all fake including that screenshot.

Same thing. I have an ad on Gumtree and she said she would only pay via Auspost. Nothing online with Auspost, so I googled her number and saw these messages. We have to be so careful. Thanks for all your posts!
I have blocked her number now.

Contacted me via WhatsApp for the gumtree ad I had listed on the weekend, tried to scam me by saying she will pay be via auspost and organise a courier to pick up the item from me...sent me a doggy link...be ware

I also had an encounter with this scam someone Brenda replying to a Gumtree Advert wanting to purchase and payment thru Aust Post. Please be aware this is a Scam!

Very Polite, I thought it was true, even the web site looked so real.
Gumtree became a source of scammers, not to mention painful peoples...

Thanks to all previous victims' contribution. I got the exactly same information from her ( I think maybe it's him or them.) I think they are dangerous because their communications are very polite, like a well educated person, they act as trustworthy.
