Last Saturday afternoon, I saw three men and a tow truck trying to tow my unregistered car away from a parking spot on the street. They claimed they were from the local council. I refused to let them take my car, as no stickers had been placed on my car to notify me about potential impoundment which is the usual council process. They had smashed one of the car windows to get into it, and had pulled the ignition out of the dashboard, and hacked through the steering wheel to get the crook-lock off. I asked them for their phone number. This number 0414 252 500 was the phone number that "John" gave me (dark haired, Mediterranean appearance). He was accompanied by "Brad" (light hair, Caucasian) and a tow truck driver (Asian). (I should have also photographed their rego plates, and note the name labels of the tow truck company , but was in too much of a state to think clearly about that at the time!)

When I enquired with council the next weekday, they said that no car of my description had been reported to their rangers, and they had no-one on their staff of that name or number. So it seems "John" was trying to steal my car to dispose of and get money for himself. I had been in the process of organising the disposal of my car myself but had been delayed with this. Apparently they had seen my car sitting there and thought it was easy pickings. I would like to report them to the police, but don't have much information other than this number to give to the police. I am interested to know if anyone else has been affected by people of this description and phone number.

Caller: SCAM

Answered call, recorded message stating they were calling from Dept of Home Affairs. There had been illegal activities done with my identity & there was an arrest warrant out for me.

Where was this at?
St George, campsie area???
I think they stole vehicles and other things from that area before.
