Just posted gumtree adv, rec'd text to reply via email, unfortunately I did!
Got the sane email bout being offshore .
I replied saying call me when your back on land, no bank details, cash only!
Wish I'd checked the number here first!!

Texted me about furniture I have on Gumtree. Seemed like a possible scam. Glad I googled their no.
A smarter scammer would have used a different phone no. by now

Got similar message to a Gum tree ad statin g they worked for a NZ company and were offshore but to provide bank a/c details and they will p[at and arrange collection Also got the exact same message from # 0409 795 237.

They followed up with "urgent" please give bank details so they can pay.
I didn't follow up as assume that both numbers are scammers

So glad I checked this first!
He asked if my gumtree furniture was still available... most people would say "chair" or whatever is for sale! Asked to reply to macsmith202 email, no text plz.

Just got a text message from 0409 793 748 claiming to work for NZOG. This was in response to a Gumtree Ad placed.

Got the exact same gumtree scam. Do not respond to this number!!

I think the number is fine as it belongs to a fax/sms usage service for legitimate businesses like mine (like a virtual office). This is the same number that comes up if I send a text to a client. The person USING the service is obviously a crook flogging some scam and hiding behind a virtual phone. I would contact Utbox and report the user AND delete any texts received. I don't know how they specifically identify their users but if I send myself a message I get a text from 6140973748 which I assume is the same number (out of curiosity I just googled the number and got this post)? Please be sensible and ignore, delete or report unexpected contact from unknown numbers.

I got the message about being in NZ, then the follow up email (because I replied) about the $950AUD courier fee.
I supplied my bank account details - should I get a new bank account????

Got the same email below after responding to the SMS text by email.

I am buying it for my for my holiday and i want it delivered before my arrival.I won't be able to come for the inspection due to the nature of my work and i would have called but our calling is restricted.Regarding the payment,pls get back to me with your final asking price and your paypal details so i can process the payment,you can alternatively send your bsb and acct number if you have no paypal acct.I have also contacted my courier who will come for pick up after the whole fund has been cleared into your acct.

l just got a text message from this no, asking if my furniture on Gumtree was still available and to only to reply via email should l be worried?

I recently put an ad on gumtree and got the same message in relation to reply back via email rather than text. I thought it was weird. I got the same email back from Kathy Smith about the oil rig. I thought it was weird and googled the number and found all of this. I feel a little silly about emailing and should have checked it first

Comes under the name of Kathy smith long email about how she's away in NZ and wants to pay by PayPal complete scam

Just received same txt just after put the listing on Gumtree. Knew there hadn't been any views of the item and the fact they said do you still have Gumtree furniture instead of description of items. Too obvious....scam

I just got the same message, Kathy Smith though...

My boyfriend received a message from this mobile number enquiring about his add for a room for rent on Gumtree and to reply to her gmail account. She said she was working as a chef on a cruise ship and is arriving in 2 days and she needs him to go to the post office to pay $950 AUD to have her luggage sent from overseas to Australia. She wanted it to be sent through Western Union to United Arab Emirates! She said she would also pay three months rent in advance - clearly a scam!!

Be careful, It 100 % scam asking you to rent his property in very cheap price while he is overseas.
