Its from 'Dunn and Bradstreet' - debt collectors.

They told me I had a Centrelink debt from years ago. When I asked about details, they told me they couldn't discuss anything until I paid $2,000 over the phone right then. Yeah right! I tried to call Centrelink but (of course) sit on the phone for ages.

Does not sound legit at all. Never discuss anything with a third party - call the person they claim to represent first.

It is Dunn & Bradstreet - under their new name of Illion but also apparently known as Milton Graham. Every so often they change names as this is how they are able to get away with continually calling people. The other thing to know is that if you state you only want e-mail as contact they MUST abide by it and there are limits on how much contact they can make within set periods of time. Exceeding this means they can be reported to the relevant Ombudsman etc and they are at risk of penalties. I do have debts, however as they have told me so many different things and made varying threats over the years I refuse to speak to them except via e-mail because if they're not willing to put it in writing, they don't have to admit having said xyz (ie made threats).

The reason they chase is because afte 7 years they can cialm against debt insurance and recoup the amount but till they do this they won't get paid by the companies they are subcontracting to for the debts - if that doesn't make sense e-mail me meganfollett at gmail dot com and I'll explain it further. There's a whole thing that comes into play - How I know this is that I ran an advocacy company (not for profit) that negotiated debts for clients.

The last thing I can say to help you all here is this - if you do have a debt, don't be afraid to talk to the company the debt is owed to rather than the collector of the debt. Don't be pushed into providing any BS expenses information - that's your information no-one else's. They can't legally ask you for it -they just don't ever admit that. Don't be afraid to offer ONLY what you can afford in repayments and keep it so crazy low that there's no way you can default.

Also, don't enter into an agreement of any kind via phone or in writing till you know it's your debt to pay as once you do they can hold you to it.

I just received a call from this number 10 minutes ago, same as above, I said hello about 3-4 times and no answer.... Then they hung up... Googled the number, found this thread and then sent them this. " Just googled your number and its on the hotlist for scammers and debt collectors. I'm aware of the money I owe and I will contact the people That need to be contacted when I have the finances. Please don't call me again. "

Firstly I received a dodgy text and then a dodgy phone call from these people. I had asked what the call was concerning and the phone operator, who spoke very little English, wouldn't disclose any info until I gave them my personal information. I refused to give this to her and after much discussion I then suggested they send me a letter in the mail, she said they couldn't because I wouldn't give her my personal details. So with that all said I ended the call. Two days later I received a letter from them about a debt I owed to Centrelink ( a debt that was incurred by an error on Centrelinks part ). I called Centrelink and they had confirmed that the debt was sent onto Dunn and Bradstreet for collections. I had voiced my opinion about the dodgy way the company went about business and was told that I should call customer relations on 1800 132 468 and lodge a complaint. The woman from Centrelink said that they can't do anything about it but we can, especially if there are enough complaints. So I'll be calling them on Monday.

Don't bother with these scammers. They are not debt collectors. I am a student and I legit owes no debt. Wonder how they get their numbers.

Same experience. I received 4 calls from them in 5 days. Always asked me my personal information and I asked which kind company they are and they hung up. Also send me a text msg said call 13***** number and quote the ref number**** they always said they are on behalf of human resource.

Had a call from this number today. I answered and said, "Hello" but got no response for several seconds, no static or noise in the background either. In the end I hung up. Good to know who it was, though.
