another scam, as usual, if I were to drink a glass of wine for each scam call i get i would be drunk every single day

Rang from Melbourne on a Sunday afternoon at 3.30 so I checked here before calling back as the timing seemed odd. Didn't call back to check.

Missed the call so checked here and found that it is a scam so blocked the number straight away.

Young girl called saying she was from Somewhere Shire a council calling for a survey about provided services in the area. I couldn’t quite hear which location. When she heard I was confused why she was calling she asked if I’d even lived in Victoria. I said no and she said sorry I’ll take you off the list. Can’t quite tell if she was going to be a scam or not. I have had obvious scammers call me asking if I was in VIC before (for those electricity provider calls), so obviously my number has been put on some list as being in VIC.

Called 1.30 pm on a Sunday. Came up as spam on my phone.

Caller: (03) 9977 5959

This Melbourne number called me at 7.50pm on a Friday night. I don’t answer any unknown numbers & always check here first. Didn’t leave a voicemail so didn’t return after reading comments here

Caller: Dial tone

Called 1.15 on a Saturday as I was catching up on Det. Frost reruns. My answering machine kicked in and all I got was dial tone (strange!). Will block.

Scammer pretending to be doing Market Research

Yet another caller butting into my life in the evening and not bothering to speak. My landline phone doesn't allow me to block more than 30 numbers when I need 300 - though even that would make no difference because another lowlife would immediately call from yet another (probably spoofed) number. I'm sick to death of it.
Please do not answer calls from these pests or the plague will never stop. And don't call them back either. A legitimate caller would leave a message so that you can return the call if you choose to.

Seems as of February 2024 this number is still being used based on the above comments from a year ago. Usually modus operandi- rings (I can’t count how many times they seem to use the same prefix number of 9977 but different numbers after it.
Don’t answer but they NEVER ever leave a message.

Called me an hour ago, didn't answer

Truecaller rejected the number as Suspected Scam, can now see why based on these comments. Number blocked

SPAM NUMBER. Has called several times, all around 6.30pm AEDT. Machine-generated voice.

Missed call on a Sunday afternoon, checked number and found this page. I get so many calls from numbers I do not recognise that appear as a Local Number and quite a few are SCAMMERS/SCAMS .
NOTE: Scammers are able to ring from another Country and number appears to be a Local Number.

Called at 12.57 on a Sunday, & came up as suspected spam, so didn't answer. Looked up number here & see it's a scam. Will block number.
