Their voicemail says they conduct a research and call is for a market research. They even call after business hours.

I come straight here and look for the number, and the responses, 9/10 times my suspicion is confirmed. Thanks to all for taking the time to post a comment.

I have had previously received their calls and bought a metal whistle, you know the one the scouts use and in the early years by the police. And when the next call came through, gosh did I blow that whistle!!

By picking up you are acknowledging that there is a "person" on the other end and I believe their systems will flag your number as "live"

Caller claimed to be from Ipsos Marketing Research. Told him we are a private company and don't do market research over the phone. He asked to speak a company exec and had his first name. Thanked him for his call and told him again we don't do market research over the phone. He asked wasn't I even interested in knowing what the call was about. Sad NO and thanked him again for call .

They asked for a few minutes of my time to conduct an opinion survey. Told them I was busy.

Annoying, repetitive call...From a market research company. They want 15 minutes of your time for selling some rubbish.

I pick up for these calls more especially when i suspect its a spam number then immediately hang back up again. At the very least i hope they pay a small charge to their provider for the connection.

I just feel sorry for the people who have to make the calls, that would be a very hard life and I couldn't do it. Like most business (Uber, Dominos have come to mind recently) someone is being scr***d over be it the workers or members / clients / franchisees, so someone can make some money, it's a zero sum game. I despise the people higher up their corporate tree who make the money whether these are scams or not.
I just ignore the call, google the number later and if not on a site like this, return the call.

They identified themselves as IPSOS market research. If that's the case, it is a legitimate research company (they do a range of stuff from crass 'how much do you like product x' to questions around community attitudes to eg public policies). Problem is with an unsolicited call, there's no way of knowing if it's a legitimate (if still annoying) company doing legitimate randomised studies or if it's a foul scammer trying to commit identity or other fraud.

They leave an automated message on the answering machine saying that our IP address has been compromised throughout the world and that we have to call their technician to have it fixed. They have rung 3 times so far and we haven't answered any of the calls.
