AGL, calls leaves no msg, i dont have account with AGL

They just called me saying they were from AGL wanting to give me a free SIM card.
They spoke in broken English and kept repeating themselves. Got a bit upset when I suggested they send it out in the post. Then wanted my details which I of course I did not give them. I then just cancelled the call and blocked the number.

It's just one of various 'local' numbers that AGL use - via automatic dialing systems.
In my case, a day or two after a bill becomes overdue, I start getting missed calls but no messages from them.. I check my account, pay the bill, calls stop..
After 20 years of pretty much always paying my gas and power on time or slightly overdue, you think they'd be less annoying..
But - I think they outsource their 'debt recovery' work, so as soon as any account is past due, another company starts harassing you.. AGL will deny that it is actually them.. because it isn't them.. it's one of their contractors.

Scammmer using AGL name. First red flag she didn’t sound professional and the rooster screaming in the background lol. She got upset when I won’t give my details.

Claim to be AGL but hang up when you stall "I'm not getting a response so I'm ending the call". Asks for identifying information even though they are the one who called and barely provided believable identification of themselves.

Contacted AGL via their app to ask if the calls are related to bill payments as I paid a few days ago (albeit slightly overdue). I have never had these calls before despite having a few late bills. AGL confirmed I had no amount owing and asked for more details on the phone number... I wonder if this means it is NOT legit...

She sounds like she is from a Asian Country and i can here lot of background noises (def. working from home) she claimed she is from AGL and ask my email address to verify the account details and full name. i said i cant give that over the phone. then she wanted me to reach my account number. she said it is a collection call. her mention due amount is correct. i always pay 7-10 days after my due date of the electricity bill. I am surprised to receive this call.

Same thing happened to me too, (03) 9649 4942. appears to be Melbourne based however this means nothing these days. She started asking me all sorts of private questions without identifying herself first, When I told her I cannot give her any personal information she (Gina without a surname) raised her voice and started talking over me, very unprofessional definitely a scam, or AGL have a lot of training of their staff to consider.

Kept telling me they calling from AGL about my gas and electricity account. Had the correct address but wanted me to provide my surname, DOB and last 4 digits of my credit card. I said no and then I was hung up on.

When I answered and said hello, they hung up. Very strange thing to do if it is really AGL. Suspicious call for sure.

Keep calling wanting me to ID myself. I said no. You have my info you tell me. Block the number.

This is a scam number so don’t answer it.

These people knew my centrelink number and read it to me without me telling them. How did they know this?
I confirmed my name and date of birth. Now I'm bit worried.

When I rang back, recorded message said "thanks for calling AGL" and then just kept ringing.

Claimed to be working for AGL and asked did I get an overdue notice. I said I would call AGL directly and they immediately hung up. Checked and I had a bill overdue, so paid it... wonder if they will call again.
