Rang twice in the space of 15 minutes. An app on my phone that blocks potential spam numbers silenced both calls so I didn’t even know at the time that the phone rang. I can’t find any information about these numbers.

claimed to be from AGL but I called AGL to check and they claim no such call is made.
so this is a potential hacker trying to get personal info

Scam call claiming to be from AGL. When asked what's my account number they did not know. So I put a stainless steal lid on the phone and banged it with a wooden spoon. They cut the call.

Caller: Dean from AGL(?)

Had a few missed calls from this number. Eventually picked one up, Dean claimed to be from AGL advising me that my plan has been modified so that I get better rates, as per the latest government/Energy Regulator guidelines. I didn't have to give any information, just listen. Seemed a bit weird so I checked AGL sites for known scams, nothing matched. I then called AGL on their official number and got put through to a customer resolution officer, who confirmed that it was a legitimate call - due to call centre volumes, AGL has outsourced some outbound call work. So, nothing to worry about - NOT A SCAM.

Had a call from this number clearly from a call centre. Sounded like someone from the Philippines perhaps - said he was calling for AGL, knew my name and the suburb where I lived. Did the spiel about a a new plan, no extra cost, not locked in but cheaper. I said I'd have a look at it on their (the AGL) website and he hung up on me.

Answered call to hear people talking Chinese in the background. i said hello a few times but no one responded directly to me, so hung up. Guaranteed spam call

Rang me once or twice daily for a few days. Never left a message. I rang the number back once and it was immediately and weirdly engaged / disconnected. Finally checked the number here and will block now after reading the comments.

This number is 100% a scam caller. If there is a comment saying it is legitimate, they are also a scammer.

I called AGL and they said they don’t call for that type of reason which the scammer said they have a better deal on you gas and electricity. Luckily I didn’t give any details. I mentioned I didn’t want to give any details as I was a little bit worried he then sent me a text message with a code but he has my number anyway, yet couldn’t send me an email. The guy on the other end ended the call eruptly unlike a normal customer service worker at AGL after I politely said I don’t want to go through with the change as I was unsure. AGL always say thank you for call etc where as I just got a “ok” and hung up. 100% Scammer from my experience

I also rang agl directly after the incoming call from (03) 9649 4909 and confirmed that it was legitimate. It was a better deal than what i was on and has been in place definately.

Had a few calls from this number. twice showed by anti virus app as potential scam so never answered it. If it was legit AGL wouldn't they leave a text or message if it was important? or send an email to your legit email linked to your account? why random calls? SUSPICIOUS as hell.

NOT A SCAM, this is actually AGL.

Not a scam. Legit AGL off-shore telemarketers trying to swap you over to a "better" electricity plan.
The new plan wasn't any better for me, but it might be for others. Definitely not a scam.
