Caller: Medibank Private - registered nurse

This was a legit call from Medibank Private. It was a registered nurse who did a health check by asking a series of questions relating to my health and offered ways that Medibank could help with any issues.

I remembered Medibank got hacked awhile ago so l was not confortable discussing any health issues over the phone that l have not instigated myself. l am also not 100% sure Medibank would do a welfare check in this manner.
This call may have seemed legit but l was not willing to take the chance and it was a really bad line and the person at the other end did not speak very good english.
I decided to check with Medibank Private if its legit they will tell mel.

Has called 4 times in the past week between 10 - 11 am - doesn't leave a message. So I have ignored and now blocked the calls

TLDR: I don't think it's a scam call but I don't think you should give them private info.

Nurse called and said they're from Medibank Private (which I am a member of). I said I was dubious and worried about giving out private information and they said they can email me the information and I can call the number instead. I would say even if you receive a call from this number and it is Medibank, it's worth not giving them any private information as scammers can spoof numbers. They have to double check your membership info and date of birth, address, etc—essentially a lot of the info that I don't want to risk giving to who could be a scammer. I opted to end the call and the nurse was very nice and said it makes sense to be cautious.

I'm also not a fan of companies calling me out of the blue without first warning me. If Medibank had emailed me ahead of time and given me the option to select a time to receive a call, I'd be a lot less distrusting.

Even if you are a member of Medibank, you don't have to answer this. Go to your member portal and speak to an agent on there and they can give you the number to call yourself.

I always treat unsolicited calls as suspicious, but caller did leave a voicemail explaining that they were from Medibank. Even so, the Medibank hack has made me more cautious, so the comments regarding this number are helpful. Anyway I did double check and called them back via their advertised number on Medibank website - "https://www.medibank.com.au/health-support/health-services/health-checks/"

Caller: said they were Medibank

Male called, said he was a 'registered' nurse - he was hesitant, not in corporate style. Wanted adress name etc I didn't feel comfortable, felt like a scam...

I tried calling the number back by hiding my number, but it went unanswered. If it was Medibank, they would have picked up or at least gone to a message bank. I would say definitely a scam

It was an RN (that’s what the caller said) from Medibank Private offering complimentary health check. She was polite and informed me the call would be recorded. I said I wouldn’t need the health check and hung up.

Medibank registered nurse. I contacted Medibank myself later and they confirmed the number and call was indeed from Medibank. It's legit.

Caller: Medibank?

Probably is legit. As I received an email in relation to a missed call from them.
In their email "Your Medibank health Check" 24/7 Medibank Nurse Support 1800 644 325. On their website 1800 644 325 is legit.
If anyone is with Medibank & want to do the health check, call their number on their website for peace of mind :D

Not sure who this caller really is. The message left on my message bank message sounded very convincing. If its really Medibank they could communicate via different methods. Anyway my super amazing one in a million GP does all my health checks.

Nurse from Medibank One. I'm not with Medibank. Must be a scam or something.

Indian woman, claimed to be Medibank offering a free health check. Informed her I have lost all faith in the medical profession since covid and will not be seeing a doctor in future.

Some here obviously trust them - not me. Blocked the number.

Caller didn’t leave a voicemail. Many are stating it’s someone from Medibank. I don’t believe this is accurate as I am not a member of Medibank but my husband is. Be careful and do not provide this person with your details.

Medibank Private emailed recently that they were doing health checks. Apparently you can’t opt out. Missed the call and they said they would ring again. Really feel my own doctor knows all my history better.
