Caller: Medibank Private - registered nurse This was a legit call from Medibank Private. It was a registered nurse who did a health check by asking a series of questions relating to my health and offered ways that Medibank could help with any issues.

I remembered Medibank got hacked awhile ago so l was not confortable discussing any health issues over the phone that l have not instigated myself. l am also not 100% sure Medibank would do a welfare check in this manner. This call may have seemed legit but l was not willing to take the chance and it was a really bad line and the person at the other end did not speak very good english. I decided to check with Medibank Private if its legit they will tell mel.

Caller: Claims to be nurse from Medibank I always treat unsolicited calls as suspicious, but caller did leave a voicemail explaining that they were from Medibank. Even so, the Medibank hack has made me more cautious, so the comments regarding this number are helpful. Anyway I did double check and called them back via their advertised number on Medibank website - "https://www.medibank.com.au/health-support/health-services/health-checks/"

Caller: medibank private TLDR: I don't think it's a scam call but I don't think you should give them private info.
Nurse called and said they're from Medibank Private (which I am a member of). I said I was dubious and worried about giving out private information and they said they can email me the information and I can call the number instead. I would say even if you receive a call from this number and it is Medibank, it's worth not giving them any private information as scammers can spoof numbers. They have to double check your membership info and date of birth, address, etc—essentially a lot of the info that I don't want to risk giving to who could be a scammer. I opted to end the call and the nurse was very nice and said it makes sense to be cautious.
I'm also not a fan of companies calling me out of the blue without first warning me. If Medibank had emailed me ahead of time and given me the option to select a time to receive a call, I'd be a lot less distrusting.
Even if you are a member of Medibank, you don't have to answer this. Go to your member portal and speak to an agent on there and they can give you the number to call yourself.

Got a call from this number, but remember nothing is free, everything has a price on it. So I told them I have a doctor appointment for the check up. Thankyou and hang up. Medibank should look into this seriously.

Caller: Medibank Has been calling up to twice a day, no voice message left. No real pattern to the hours. I finally picked up (6pm), they said they were a nurse for Medibank. Told them to try next week as I was busy.

I tried calling the number back by hiding my number, but it went unanswered. If it was Medibank, they would have picked up or at least gone to a message bank. I would say definitely a scam
