Caller said they had several times prevented someone by the name of 'John Smith' from accessing $2500 from my bank account. I asked which bank, they replied Westpac. They then asked me if I knew anyone by the name of John Smith. I said 'No'. Then they asked if I had an account with Westpac and I replied, 'Well, you should know since you claim to have prevented someone from accessing my account' - They then realised I was onto them so they quickly hung up - clearly a scam.

Scam call. Claiming to be Telstra calling about our broadband. We are not with Telstra nor do we have broadband.

I rang this number back and it immediately disconnected. No doubt a scam number. I’ve blocked it.

I received the same type of call. A pre-recorded message, claiming that a charge of $99 would be made to my Amazon account. It then instructed me to press 1 to speak to a representative to renew or cancel my membership. I pressed 1 to speak to a representative and asked to cancel my membership (which I actually thought I had already done recently after watching half of the AMC series Interview with a Vampire - It sucked so I decided to cancel Prime). The representative said that I would need to fill in an online form, I told him to email it to me (if he was really from Amazon Prime he would have my email address on file right?). He said that he could not email it and that he would give me a URL where I could do it immediately on-line with him on the phone right now. Alarm Bells rang. I told him that seemed very suspicious to me. The phone went quiet and then he disconnected the call.

Received a call from this number to say that a payment had been made to John Smith for $700 from my ANZ bank account. When I said that I would go into the branch the following day, they hung up. They called back a little while later to say that a payment for $800.00 had been made to John Smith from my Commonwealth Bank. When I said that i did not have a Commonwealth or ANZ bank account, they hung up pretty quick smart. They have just called back today from the same number to say my internet is not secure. How dumb are they. Number is now blocked.
