Caller: Melbourne Advance I think this is a variant on the property investment scam. I've been contacted before, and they want to know: - are you under 58 - are you married - are you working full time - do you own your own home
If you tick all the boxes, then either they want the information to try to suck you into a 'government scheme to generate wealth' via 'tax concessions', OR they want to sell that infomation to someone else to try to suck you into a scam.
The scam is property investment - they hint at tax breaks available only if you buy property a certain way. Then they present a complete package: property, conveyancing, finances, everything done for you - plus, a ruinous fee on top of that at an extortionate interest rate.
Investment is the use of money to generate more money. Spending money to get 'a tax concession' is not investment.

(On old Arab one "May the fleas of a thousand camels infest your armpits". That should do the trick! (Only joking .... but yer never know!).

Caller: Advance Upon looking further there is a legit company called ADVANCE - website advance.com.au - this is a legit firm under BT Financial Group. However the call center rep claiming to be from Victoria is using this company name as a "campaign" name hence the campaign name cannot be traced online and neither is it a legit trading name as such. ADVANCE (BT) is based in Sydney City. Will ring them later this week to notify them of this victorian call center to see if they are affiliated in any way shape or form.

Caller: Jasmine - Melbourne Advance I just had the exact same call. When I answered, she immediately went into her script without taking a breath. I interrupted her by asking "Is this a real person?" She paused and said "Yes". I said "Cos as soon as I answered you started talking and didn't give me a chance to speak. What exactly is Melbourne Advance?" She paused for 2 seconds and hung up.
