Caller: Check Your Bill Rarely do i answer unknown calls. And being on Do Not Call register does not mean you won't get unsolicited calls. But took a call. Energy transfer provider saving sales. Commission sales. Signed up for Dodo. No worries, unless hard mail is half scam now... ?... Got a welcome pack from Dodo then a further posted letter confirming transfer date etc... Only annoyed as just over 2 weeks later the same person tried to contact me again. Why did i answer?! Was a different number too. Had to get off phone, busy, said call tomorrow. From a different number yet again i answered. Rambled on about further discounts over a year etc. I believed he meant further discounts regarding the provider he'd 2 weeks ago I'd signed up for, Dodo. It was a good ramble, & I was zoning out as when I was starting to go through verification, I realised he meant a different energy provider! This, after my questions of why would i need more verification for discount if just bloody signed up to Dodo. He did say the name Engie Australia, or energy Australia at a few points. But I was tired & didn't twig. Genuine enough person. I said in the end nah im fed up, want to get off the phone, i dont care about the 18% better off over a year. They're all endlessly going to try outdo each other & can't be arsed changing providers every few weeks, months! I'm poor & already use half the average single ekec use, not going through. But pushy for the commission i guess. He apologised & said he understood that it's also not a good look, that the now 3 seperate times we have spoken, a different number shows!!! He agreed but tried to explain it's call centre computer generated numbers if other lines are full... I dunno. I said if I want to a better deal I'll call you! He gave me the au head office...( Oh of course like everything else is owned by several tiers of corporate overseas)... Gave me his employer code to get to him quicker if so. Eventually thought to look up. I can't recall at what point or if first up he stated the company name of Check Your Bill. Info overload. But. Took a very long time of searching now Google search is overloaded with crud. Finally found its website. Govt registered business sites were too hard to use or nothing showed up.... Scam watch site using the Australian head office number on the site, and given to me by the marketeer over the phone, listed it as ok & legit. Also CYBERTRACE au site, thx heaps, had the best & most info. But still the caveat of... scams are so sophisticated blah blah. Cyber security has been pathetic since in-house IT teams with all businesses & orgs ended. https://checkyourbill.com.au/2024/05/09/#faqs
