    Someone called from AGL and asking for accounts detail
    I have refused to give my detail so I ask them to give the company direct number.
    Never reveal any detail and ask for company direct number

    I received a call from this number, claiming to be a Telstra representative, wanting to talk to me about blocking calls. I asked him to forward any information to me via post, as I do not do any business via telephone, but he refused. I then asked him to read the last four numbers of my Telstra account number so that I could verify that he was definitely from Telstra - he hung up. If you receive any calls from someone saying they are Telstra, just ask for your account number, or verification of your address, and they soon stop calling.

    This is spam at its worst. Paul was very insistent that he have my credit card details and could not understand why I would not give him my CCV. He said that Telstra will block all the lines for nuisance calls and would give me a $10.00 refund off my next bill. I do not have anything to do with Telstra all my accounts are with iinet. fortunately I told him that I need to call iinet and confirm this is the case and stopped the phone call.

    Even though my 85 year old mother’s number is on the do not call register she received a cold caller who told her she would no longer receive nuisance calls If she gave them her credit card details which she did. The phone number they gave her was (03) 9068 9535 (‘Jim’). The $200.76 on her Credit Card statement that day showed CherryTel Pty Ltd. on googling http://www.cherrytel.com.au/ I retrieved their (Australian) phone number but got a foreign call centre. I advised them of their breach and demanded that the $200.76 was credited. I got a call back from a Canada number ‭+1 (905) 226-275‬ The caller claimed that my mother was already subscribing to them for $11 a month and therefore they were not breaching do not call register. I manage my mother’s accounts and there is no such payment so I demand refund which eventually turned up in another bank account I had provided. Within 24 hours my mother’s cresit card was compromised with an attempted online payment of $465 USD from an I know perpetrator.

    Cold caller told me that I would no longer receive nuisance calls and then proceeded to request information about my Credit Card which I refused to give him. I asked for a number so that I could return the call and was given the above. It appears the number does not exist.
