Scammer- they emailed me with a message that a suspicious payment was blocked and asked me to call them to confirm whether it was genuine.
When I called them, they asked me to download a program, so they could cancel the rtansaction. When I queried why I needed to download a program, he hung up.
Had an indian accent.

Ebay 'customer support' says they're holding suspicious payment to AVAST, but it would be paid unless I phoned 9017-0198. It was a poorly worded email and that immediately exposed the scam.

I got the same scam email as everyone else. I was immediately suspicious because a) the message did not address me by name and b) it was written in English as a Second Language. So, I checked this wonderful website and found it was indeed a scam. Thank you all.

I love this site. My partner thought this was a legit email, I said 'give me 2 seconds to run that number'... The giveaway for me was that they didn't know his name. Ebay always says 'G'day Mark'. Thanks to you and this little community for proving me right.

I checked all appropriate accounts. As you know it. I would remember any bill that size. The phone number has been used previously. From email was not close. Plus I don't respond to emails unless I expected it or obviously know the Emailer.
