Scammed via TeamViewer - Claimed to be PayPal customer service

Sent an official looking email to my wife on the 8th of February 2022. said someone was trying to hack into her Bendigo bank account. He had an Indian sounding accent and he wanted her to install Team Viewer. I told her not to. I checked the number against the Bendigo bank phone number, it was completely different. She rang the bank, and they said it was a scam. it appears he's been using the same number for years so why can't he be caught.

Received several calls from (03) 9014 9867 during 21 and 22 Feb 2011. An Indian sounding male named ‘Steve,’ telling me there was a virus problem with my computer and he could help me fix the problem. He disclosed our phone account holders name. He was rude and arrogant and would not let me speak, talking over the top of me. I informed him he was making an unwanted and unsolicited call to a private residence which was in breach of the terms of the ‘Australian Do Not Call Register’ and he would be reported. He hung up.
