I received a call from someone saying they were from Microsoft Service Centre and that my computer files had been corrupted. I was suspicious and asked for a number to call them back on. I hung up and googled Microsoft Service Centre to find that this a well known scam. What do I do?

Had a call from Michael regarding

I received a call from this number, the guy said he is calling from vodafone, ask me that have I called to some Asian countries, I said no. Then he ask me to confirm phone no. and account number. I said that can't confirm with you, i don't knows who you are. Then he hung up. Forgot to mentioned, this guy's speaking with Indian accent and very difficult to understand what he say.

Just had a call at 8pm in the evening. I also thought it was suspicious. Asked if I could call back at a better time. He gave me that same phone number and said his name was Jack Davis.I said "how do you know I have errors in Windows?" Anyway, wont be calling them back !!!

Has anybody reported this problem?

Had the same call today twice!!

Had the same guy call me today.  His caller ID said overseas yet the number he gave me was for Melbourne, I smelt a rat and hung up on him.

Same here.  Gave the number and "Arthur Corasco" as the contact name.  Had some fun for 10 mins before they gave up on me.

Got a call from them  " Microsoft Service Centre"  caller  Alex -said he was calling from Melbourne but was an overseas call told me to do some stuff on computer - gave me the (03) 9008 4255 to ring in Melbourne  to prove he was not a scammer,Ha Ha - had a bit of fun. I told him to ring me back once I called the Melbourne number.Dont expect he wil call me back.

Oliver Jones Called us tonight from the "Research Service Centre". We were to busy at the time so he gave us his name. I tried to call him back later from a phone that has caller ID blocked, but he justs hangs up. Guess because there is no caller ID.  The Phone number is (03) 9008 4255. Its a real shame I have missed out on some real fun.

Can't believe, same thing happened today as well, even they didn't change the contact number (03) 9008 4255, and contact person: Arther Carresco.
Definitely a scam, don't try their suggestion.
