I received a call from someone saying they were from Microsoft Service Centre and that my computer files had been corrupted. I was suspicious and asked for a number to call them back on. I hung up and googled Microsoft Service Centre to find that this a well known scam. What do I do?

I received a call from this number, the guy said he is calling from vodafone, ask me that have I called to some Asian countries, I said no. Then he ask me to confirm phone no. and account number. I said that can't confirm with you, i don't knows who you are. Then he hung up. Forgot to mentioned, this guy's speaking with Indian accent and very difficult to understand what he say.

Just had a call at 8pm in the evening. I also thought it was suspicious. Asked if I could call back at a better time. He gave me that same phone number and said his name was Jack Davis.I said "how do you know I have errors in Windows?" Anyway, wont be calling them back !!!

Has anybody reported this problem?

Had the same call today twice!!

FYI - I got the same call yes and phoned them back the next day for some fun given that I have some minor IT skill set and work in a small office with an IT team. So we had a good 15mins of fun

DONOT go to any of the sites they suggest which will allow them to log in to your PC (as the are remote access websites designed for offsite access)

had a call from "Oliver Jones', from "windows service centre".Sounded sus so I called him back on (03) 9008 4255. Didn't bother going past the recenptionist (another indian fell).  I did go to the web site  thought to try and verify

Just got this call today, i left him on hold for 5 minutes, then made up a fake name. Told him to call back 5:30, this shall be interesting i have created a bogus life

I am in Coffs Harbour and also received a call today from (03) 9008 4255, saying they were from the Widows Service Centre and my computer was at risk, so I have registered with the do not call and then looked up the phone number on google and found this site.

Over the past few days I have had numerous calls from a man called Alex Love saying he is from Windows Service Centre, and that my computer is sending him messages which proves there is malicious worms on my computer.  They sound very convincing.  He gave me this Melbourne phone number (03) 9008 4255 and told me to call it to verify where he was from.  When I called the number, a guy said Hello, my name is John.  Isaid what company is this?  He said Windows Service Centre.  Obviously they have organised this behind the scenes to try and sound convincing.  My computer technician said in no way do anything they say, it is all a SCAM.
