If was truly NBN would have known we are not connected to NBN at all. Run our internet through a wireless device only. Played with her for a while before getting bored. She ended up telling me i was talking rubbish and to get lost. Sad...I really liked Daisy

Caller: Jonas Smith

A person by the name of Jonas called me advising they are from Telstra and they provide the services to my internet provider Optus. He advised that they have received an alert about my internet services and they suspect that there is a malicious spy/malware that can cause harm and drop outs to my internet, also that someone could get personal info from the devices I use. He asked me to open up the Windows Start menu on one of my devices and search for the 'Run App' then open the app and put down eventvwr which basically runs the even view window.
From there he would direct me to show me if there is anything suspicious and if there is he can direct me on how to delete/block that all by myself and without them needing connect to my device.
I said I don't trust this call and I would need to verify the caller by ringing Telstar direct. At this point he advised he is more then happy for me to check his details and advised ne that he will give me his full name, Telstra employee number and also a call reference number. He also advised me that the Telstra Technical Support Phone number is: (03) 9005 6755.
His name: Jonas Smith
His Telstra employee #: T56749
Call Reference #: 00456

I did ring Telstra on 13 22 00 (taken form Telstra official website) and spoke to a lady by the name of Suprit from their Sydney Contact Centre. She advised me that the call from Jonas is definitely a scam and to make sure none of their instructions are followed. Also advised me that Telstar would never directly call their customers or non-customers. She also advised if for some reason Telstra did ever need to ring one of their customers the phone number that will show on the caller ID would be a 1800 or a 1300 number that is linked to Telstra not a landline type nor a mobile type of number. Also advised the landline (03) 9005 6755 doesn't belong to Telstra.

Do not trust this caller!!

Received a mobile call from a moblie number that was only one digit different to my own. Claimed he is from Telstra and that my computer is infected with virus and malware, that I would not be aware that has been happening over last two weeks and asked me to go to the computer to check the speed of the computer. Refused to do so. Asked if he could prove his identity. He gave (03) 9005 6755 as his number, T197312 as his ID and a Call Reference Number of 0052118.

Same as all the below comments. Seriously, this has been going on since at least December 2020 according to the comments and Telstra has still done nothing about this phone number?

Caller: Damien - apparently form Telstra NBN

Said something about slow levels internet speed in the area and then asked how many devices we have in the household. At that point, I questioned who he was, he said his Telstra ID was T19712 and I could call the tech department on (03) 9005 6755 to verify. I don't think I need to bother. Thanks to everyone else who has posted about this.

provided his telstra id as 197312 and said my internet usage was unusually high. wanted me to logon and provide him details. Told him I was not able to access my PC at the time, and he would call back. He advised not to speak to any other people from Telstra as they would be scammers.

I am pretty sure he is the scammer!!!!!!

Called: She said her name was Annie Martin with Telstra Employee ID: TLSXXXX.

She said she was from Telstra and my home internet had some issue. I insisted to verify her details so she provided her name, employee ID and asked me to call (03) 9005 6755 to validate her details.

Of course, I am not going to call this number but I check the Telstra internal system (Well, I work for Telstra). I found there was a true Annie Martin but her role didn't need to contact customers at all. It is clear that this is a phishing.
