I had this number in an SMS that was supposedly from ANZ. They gave the correct Australian number for ANZ but a hot link to this number for callers from overseas. They knew the last 4 digits of my credit card. So frustrating!!!

Caller: ANZ Got a text about an attempted transaction I didnt make. Read these reviews and thought it was a scam, but rang ANZ (from the number on their website and not clicking link). Turns out this text was from ANZ and is LEGIT. Card has been compromised.

Caller: ANZ Text received today. Same context / detail as other complaints. Probably the most legitimate looking SMS I’ve seen but still a scam. Closed ANZ accounts more than 12 months ago. ANZ don’t text authorisation codes to my knowledge. Deleted and reported to Telstra as scam text.

13 33 50 is the legitimate ANZ Internet Banking number.

Caller: Fake ANZ Received two SMS messages within two days purporting to be from ANZ. "From ANZ: Do not share this passcode with anyone, including ANZ staff. ****** is the one-time passcode for your online transaction amount of AUD 125.30* to <insert business name> on your ANZ card ending ****. If you didn't request this code, please call us immediately on 13 33 50 or +61 3 8699 69"
The tricky thing is, that last 4 digits of your bank card will actually be your bank card number. But you'll check your bank account and see no pending transactions. If you call your bank to report it, they'll of course cancel your bank card and then that stuffs up your life (have to change direct debits etc all that stuff). The second follow up SMS message will be exactly the same, but different business name and higher amount of purchase and came 1 day later. A Saturday, so you can't call your bank easily to report it as it's after hours.
Of course guys, don't call the 13 33 50 or +61 8699 69. And it's up to you if you want to report it to your bank. Who knows where they got the last x4 digits of your bank card from. Could be random...or could be some insider from a business or website you purchased recently using the card.
Anway, this particular scam has been the most convincing one I've received yet and even had me doing a double take and freaking out to call my bank.

Today 30/10/23, message supposedly from ANZ, with a passcode for an online transaction with the Good Guys using my credit card, and the 4 last digits of the card provided in the message, fortunately the 4 last digits were not my credit card's. The text says to call the number if I didn't request this, to call ANZ 13 33 50 number which is correct, but the other number (03) 8699 6908 is not listed as an ANZ number. This really smells like a scam. I ignored the SMS.

Caller: Phishing Text message at 11pm claiming to be from ANZ with a OTP. Had last 4 digits of the card. The ANZ 13 33 50 number was correct but not hot inked whereas this one was. Smelt a rat as the transaction was in GBP anyway and although this number said it was for overseas calls it didn't have the correct Dial Code for calling Australia so would only work here. Good try though and looked convincing at first glance

Persistent scammer. Called multiple times and asked to read out the passcode. Already cancelled the card but still trying to use it and still trying to get the passcode.
