Caller: Unsolicited email from the "Telstra Team"

This number (03) 8647 4955 is listed as the Telstra Team contact number. I received an unsolicited email from itdesk @ sdp806418536.zm.sdp... proporting to come from the Telstra Team advising that "Dear Customer, your last payment was declined. We are sending you this email to inform you that we are unable to process the payment of the last owing bill. Please update your payment information to fix that problem:"
I think Telstra has been HACKED because "Dear Customer" is not my name. My "last owing bill" should/would show a date. "To fix that problem" is unprofessional wording. Furthermore, my husband pays my monthly Telstra phone bill on time to avoid Telstra's nasty $15.00 late payment fee and he tells me this email is a BS phishing exercise from some criminal would be scammer.

Caller: Email claims to be Telstra with number to call

Same as rest, email claiming my last payment didn’t go through. Checked through app and I had receipt for payment. Contained a link to update your details and dodgy ph number.

Email said to call this number to update Telstra details. Scam.

I have been receiving emails from "Telstra" asking me to call this number as my payment has been declined.

I spoke to Telsra a couple of weeks ago as they had sent a letter insisting I go on Direct Debit. I had has previous issues with Dd and didn't want to but did as they said everyone has to now. Within 5 days of seeing up DD the scam emails started. Telstra has now reverted me back to me paying my bill myself as I am actually a priority customer and don't need to have DD. My bill is paid but the scams kerp coming. So within 5 days of giving Telstra my details they were leaked . :(

Thanks Margaret, I too got rhe same email and it worried the life out of me. Your outing of this scam has put this phishing exercise into perspective and now I'm all the wiser. Sadly these scammers keep re inventing new scamming techniques and databases like ReverseAustralia are an important tool in the education of non cynical Australians.
