This number has been calling on my mobile and work phone for the past couple of days now. When I answer, there is no voice, so I assume it's trying to transfer me to a call centre. I hang up! I will not be responding to this numberagain and will block it from my mobile.

Caller: AGL Sales Person claiming to be from AGL calling to 'check' I was happy with my service and if I wanted to change plans. I said no thanks. Later in the day, got another call with exact same spiel. Told them not to call me again and added the number to my phone's blocked list.

Caller: (03) 8611 5160 I've blocked this number but still receive daily missed call msg. I've read reports by other recipients. I've been with AGL for years, good service, they send special offers via preferred contact (email) or with my bill.

Caller: philipino call centre via local number cold calling on behalf of AGL, trying to sell electricity to existing gas customers, hard pushing to signup, asking for my address or email address so they can mail me electricity offer to me, except AGL already has this, therefore it is not AGL itself, but a 3rd party call centre. Blocked the number.

Caller: STATES AGL I rang back from my private work no, when phone answered it was "welcome to AGL anytime. Your call will be recorded" Nothing but silence for 3 minutes, so I hung up. I was just curious. Every day between 9.00am @ 9.30am for the last week & they never leave a msg.

Call each day but leave no message- have checked number and is AGL. What fools if they think not leaving a message makes any sense and would make me want to talk to them about ANYTHING. Wonder who manages their marketing!!

Got a call today from this number - when I answered, there was two seconds of silence and then an automated female voice said "Please hold the line - I have a call for this number", so I immediately thought it was a scam & hung up.

If calls from (03) 8611 5160 are genuine AGL marketing calls and you don’t want to receive them it seems you can go to agl.com.au, and find a Form to Manage your communication preferences, and Opt-out of how you’d like to be contacted with marketing materials and special offers.
The Opt-out Options are:
Opt-out of marketing by mail
Opt-out of marketing by email
Opt-out of marketing by phone
Opt-out of marketing by SMS
It says your personal details will only be used for removing you from the marketing lists that you’ve requested. This can take up to 30 days.
After receiving one of these calls where no one spoke, I submitted an ‘Opt-out request’ and received an automated reply from AGL. Guess time will tell whether this works or not. Might be worth a try.

Caller: "AGL" Called to offer me a loyal customer discount. I was advised that I was going to receive a lower discounted rate and a $25 gift voucher. The rep advised that, as I was already a customer, all I had to do was listen to the terms and conditions to be played over the phone - then I could switch to their new contract. This triggered my suspicions. I advised I'd rather read the contract first... I was politely told that I already had been emailed the terms / contract and could review. I advised I had not... again she politely explained she would email it again. (She did not request or confirm any personal details or email address). We ended the call there. Still no emails.
