Caller: Lady

Lady with Australian accent, sounded legit, but became fishy. She was saying she was calling about me popping in for a free 15 min hearing test under an Australian government scheme. Really dodgy and fishing for information. Watch out the scammers are evolving their approach. Wonder if this is linked to the Optus hack.

After getting not one but two calls yesterday from a similar number, these lowlifes appear to be back today, phoning but not speaking. I wish I had the power to consign the bottom-feeding pests to the deepest, hottest regions of hell. But it would be enough if the telcos could work out some way of dealing with this worsening plague of spam/nuisance calls that drive their customers crazy.

Red flag !!!

I don't pick up calls from unknown number. I have voice mail if they are legit. No one left me a voice mail so must be a scammer

Caller: Energy efficiency company

Was asking if I was interested in the heat pump hot water. I replied that under the Victoria energy upgrades telemarketing was banned from the 1st of May 2024. That means no more cold calling. He claimed he wasn't aware. I hope he knows that now.

They swear at you when you will not say the yes word
when the first call you answer saying hello and they ask to speak to you and name you and when you answer that with hello again instead of saying the yes and they say is this and say your name again & you answer with hello again they then start calling you all not nice names

I didn’t answer & no VM was left. Upon reading all these comments I’m glad I didn’t answer as they probably would have been phishing for money I don’t have

Didn't answer, then a voicemail of nothing except call center background noise

Automated message claiming to be a cost of living survey. Hung up before it ended.

Caller: Most likely a scam caller

Missed a call the number displays as Melbourne but who knows, I’ve added to my blocked list like others have said probably a scammer phishing for info never give any personal data if you do answer the call otherwise let unknown calls leave a message if they’re genuine calls.

Called at 7 PM on a friday and left no message. Obvious SCAM caller

Definitely a scam - Mine is an unlisted number - It's my second phone and no one has the number. I never answer calls I don't recognise. I called back and got the 'This number has been disconnected' message. After reading the other posts I'm very glad I didn't pick up. Thanks everyone, appreciate your messages.

Don’t typically pick up unknown callers, especially landline numbers. Called for a short amount of time, and no voice mail. Considering the pattern of similar complaints, probably spam/scam.

Thats what i do now, if it's someone that knows and want's me, they will leave a message, if not there blocked like this one will be.

Called and hung up before I could answer.

Caller: Unsure - no ID, no VM.

Wasn’t fast enough to pick up this call so returned the call almost immediately. Message from this ph no was that the number had been disconnected. Dodgey scam no doubt.

Answered and a woman claimed to be from a research center and making a survey about cost of living and told me I would get into the draw of a $1000.00. The questions didn't make sense. At the end the said " and what is your name to put into the draw for the $1000.00". Nice try lady I hung up.

Had the same issue . Called back as I was awaiting a govt set call. But stated not in service .
