Caller: Male with heavy accent, possibly Indian.

Identified himself as Victorian government approved installer of power monitoring device for electric meter box. Said the installers were working in my area and I should make an appointment to have a device fitted so that I could monitor usage of my devices. All at no cost since Vic government is picking up the tab for this project. I wasn't really thinking straight and presumed since this was a government initiative that they were on the level. After making an appointment for the following day, I started to wonder how he had got hold of my number and address and what the company name was so I tried to call back. The number came back as not available - I tried several times with same response. I then contacted Powerpal who I had presumed had made the contact and they explained that this was one of the companies who was cold calling and trying to drum up business rather than getting people to register on the website. After speaking with her and googling up some details it is obvious that this is a company doing dodgy business. They install cheap products which don't work properly and then they are not responsive to any requests for help or to fix the problem. Do yourself a favour and don't get tricked. By the way, since I couldn't cancel the appointment I waited for the bloke to turn up and install - which he did 3 hours earlier than arranged - when I told him why I was NOT going to have the installation he did not seem at all surprised - just felt sorry for him for wasting his time.

Indian caller, asked for ex-husband's name - who had never been linked to my account. I told him I didn't know anyone of that name. Caller seemed surprised, then hung up.

Indian scam caller ask if I have received government electricity monitoring devices. Called me by my legal name which indicates me contact detail have been recently breached on some site.

I just said "Yeah yeah I got the device, it doesn't work very we", he goes "Ok sir" then hangs up.
Really wanted to mess with him some more but always next time

I knew it was this scam but my guy sounded African but like a cool African I just could listen to him all day so I played along with the scam just so I can get off ;) if you know what I mean…. Breathing heavily then I hung up once I 😵😜
