Received a call on my mobile phone. Google search brings up a freight company called Movit. Funny because I received a call on my landline from (08) 9071 8602 and the guy had an Indian accent and apparently that number when googled also comes up as being associated with a company called Movit. I am VERY aware of when I am expecting parcels. I am not expecting any parcels. I shouldn’t be receiving any communications from a freight company.

I had missed call, tried to ring it back and it was flagged as potential fraud. The call was not able to go through, so definately a spam call.

Caller: (03) 7053 1558 Caller addressed me by name and identified himself as being from Telstra. He had an Indian accent. He tried to tell me that the IPS on my modem had changed to public from private. I asked questions to identify him however he kept speaking over me and trying to get me to get Google on my phone so that he could guide me to fix the problem. He said he had being to contact me by mobile phone and email (he quoted my email address). I told him I wasn't with Telstra and he said it didn't matter because their security covers all devices. I told him I couldn't take his call at the moment and if he gave me his name and number I would call him back. At that he began speaking over me and I told him that he needed not to interrupt my conversation as I had been polite to him. He apologised and tried to get me to follow his instructions regarding getting Google on my phone. I instructed him to send me an email with his information as I was busy. He kept speaking over me so I hung up.

Said it was Alesha (not a real person) from the Commonwealth Bank and someone tried to make a purchase using my debit card and to press 1 to authorise or 2 to decline - what a crock!

Apparently I'm a "stupid girl" for pointing out that someone calling about a cyber security threat to my Visa MasterCard from company Visa MasterCard is not a legitimate call.
