The man with British accent rang my mobile, called me by my name and tried to convince me he was from Suncorp. He claimed to be from the Fraud department and he was ringing to cancel my card to protect my account and told me he would send me a text "from Suncorp" with a code. He proceeded to attempt the fraudulent transaction and when I got the code he asked me to repeat the number to him. That's when it clicked that this could be a scam. In fact the Suncorp text was a bank response to hi s attempt to use my bank card number to pay $1,000 for a sports bet. I guess it's a staff member from one of the companies where I have purchased online because he also new my postal and email address. He has now tried to use my card to purchase eventbrite tickets.
