I've had many of these calls blocked but hey keep coming. I spoke to the Telstra department that deals with them and was told that "They can't because the caller creates a Skype or internet number as camouflage. The callers can't be traced in this instance either. I finally blocked all international calls to my phone which has reduced it to a random few. My line is silent also but they use auto dalliers which call a sequence of numbers at random bypassing the private number bit. Back to the old style whistle in the ear I rekon.

I told the boofhead I didn't have Telstra as my Internet provider, told him to "get stuffed" then hung up on him. Then I blocked the number on my iPhone.

Scammer pretending to be from "Telstra Bigpond Australia" claiming my internet was being used by overseas criminals. He passed me on to his "senior technician" when I said I don't have a computer but I have an iPhone. The new guy recited my details from the white pages and claimed to be in Melbourne. He wanted me to buy $1000 worth of iTunes gift cards and give them the codes so that they could do a 'sting operation' and 'put overseas criminals behind bars'.

Said he was from Telstra I said well give me your number and I will call you back to verify, he wouldn't so I hung up. He then rang back and said the same thing - so did I and he said he'd shut my internet down for 6 months before hanging up on me.

Claiming to be a Telstra technician, says you are having issues with your internet and suspicious activity has been deetected. Was going to guide me through a process with the computer but I just hung up as obviously a scammer.

Beware.

Scammer claiming to be a Telstra technician addressing "internet problems". I have been plagued by these people, first yesterday evening and later by phone today. They are extremely persistent, after I hanged up they persistently rang both my home number and mobile number. They did not successfully takeover my computer but got close. They got me to install a program that gave them remote control of my computer, then installed a couple more programs. I have removed their programs and appear to be back to normal.Beware tell them you don't have internet and hang up.

Definitely a scammer. Indian Female voice wanted to sell me something from Telstra so I just pressed the big red button on my CPR CallBlocker machine. Invaluable unit. Wouldn't be without it.
