Call came from an East Asian (Indian?) sounding male, who claimed to be from a "Department of "something" (couldn't make it out due to accent). Hung up and he didn't recall afterwards. Could hear other voices in background. Given that I don't tend to give out my mobile # on a routine basis, suspect that I avoided a scam / fraud call.

Said my identity was compromised and wanted me to verify personal information. I refused, and they hung up.

Suspected this was a scam or charity call so let it go to voicemail. No message left

Wanted my postcode. Said he had multiple addresses for me and needed to verify my correct suburb then info would be sent to the fraud department. Said he was working with the fraud department and services Australia. Mentioned the department of narcotics, department of medicare, department of centrelink. Asian accent. Noisy background. Scammer

scammer called from service nsw he said

Call came through with an Indian lady claiming she's the Senior Investigator for Australian Investigations "something" (can't make out the last bit)..

The line wasn't clear so I hung up and didn't get a call back.. Yet

scam, firstly an indian (Very poor English - cannot understand a word) said my identity was stolen and urgently need to investigate. Then their 'manager' who can speak understandable English continued the call and said they are from Services Australia, and want to confirm my name - I have asked them to spell my name and they have spelled my name where I used in one of my email address (not my real name) - so confirmed that this call is FAKE.

Indian sounding person; very difficult to understand. Somehow knew my name. Claimed to be from something Investigations. Stated there was fraud of my identity.

Person saying he was from Business Investigations Australia saying that my Centrelink account was showing unusual activity. He asked me to confirm my name and I said that he already had it if he identified that me Centrelink account had been hacked. I hung up and he did not ring back.. SCAM

Caller: Probable scammer

Heard a beep and then went to a noisy call center. Lady with an accent said she was from a government department (couldn't clearly make it out) and then asked me whether I had lost any personal documents recently, and then whether I'd made a purchase via online shopping. Told her she had the wrong number and hung up. She didn't call back. Very, very likely to be a scammer.

Called saying that they were from Services Australia Investigation Division from an obviously busy call centre in an East Asian accent, then immediately began asking if I had shared my details with anyone.

Probably a preamble to "establish your identity" with them and steal your information.
