I just received a call from this number after applying for an Amex card to finalise the application. All these people saying it's a scam and they never applied for a card. It's not beyond the realms of possibility that someone has acquired your details through a data breach and they are trying to open a credit card in your name.
Follow up with Amex and have them cancel any applications and take steps to secure your identity.

Caller: AMEX I thought it was a scam at first. But to be fair, I had applied a for an AMEX card a few days ago and this was meant to be a follow up call for my details.
I even put the number on hold and called the 1300 amex number listed on the AMEX website to confirm the number and the email address they gave me.
So this is definitely a legitimate AMEX number

Caller: American Express This is definitely American Express. They called to follow through a credit card application I had submitted.
Definitely not a SCAM. The part where they ask you to follow a link to enter your Online Banking details is a secure system that allows them to confirm your regular income/salary. It does NOT give them access to your bank account or ability to transfer funds etc.
The person above claiming they asked for your PIN clearly didn’t understand the process.
All in all, it’s just AMEX. And it’s not random marketing. It’s them following up an application you’ve submitted.

Caller: Claimed to AMEX They didn't seem to know my name or any details about me. Deliberately changed details like name and DOB and address aand they still said it was correct. Wanted me to give them my bank account details and PIN. So they could use it to confirm my income. SCAM.
