Received phone call and text message - from Google Maps, asking for information/confirming business at a certain location. Text message contained several links.

Claimed to be from Google Maps, was very snappy, our information online was up to date and there was No need to cold call, I ended up hanging up as he was overly Aggressive and Indian. No Manners.

I thought it was scam and basically hung up on them, only to find out 30min later on my business email that it was actually google business calling to verify the business... when they called it sounded like your typical call centre with the background sound and a typical borderline rude aggresive caller with strong accent... so i was sure it was a scam....
I have been going back and forward on email with google to approve my business listing on google maps for months and this was a legit call...now i have to redo the whole process again as i cant call this number back to talk to them.... im just leaving this message here for someone in my position

I missed a call from this service number. I tried calling the number and the voicemail said it was Google Maps. Will try calling again tomorrow. A week ago I tried verifying my business on Google Maps so it's possible they are calling to confirm my business address etc. Google's Australian office is located in Sydney and is part of the Google Australia team that works on Google Maps, Chrome, and Photos.

Unable to give the name of the human they wanted to speak to; requesting details about whether the address was a business or residential address and ‘opening hours’. When told this seems sketchy AF, apologised before suggesting we call him back on his number and then “you can check it’s legit because we will say who we are when we answer”. Clearly think we came down in the last shower

They are stating they are google maps to verify the address. However if it's a genuine attempt or not is not confirmed. Further it's very unusual why they want to confirm the address through a call.
