Someone claiming to be from Westpac and wanted me to give answers to security questions. When I said I would prefer not to... because it could be a scam, they said "I'm not here to convince people that I'm not a scammer". So I said sorry and hung up.

The first time I saw it I just hang up then I get an email from Westpac about the call. I look it up and it say Westpac so the second time I got it, I answered and ask what it is all about, he correctly mentioned a recent transaction that I am dealing with. To confirm that he is from Westpac and before I provided any security questions I asked him the last 4 digits of my transaction reference number and he answered correctly. I the ask the last 4 digits of my account ID, he also correctly answered. Until then I was confident that the caller is from Westpac. I believe that with the work from home arrangements with companies, you will see callers coming from home numbers and they do not answer if you call them back. Daily telegraph newspaper as an example, I raise a complaint about undelivered weekend papers and I receive a call from an unknown number , I ignored it. It left a message. When I tried to return back the call no answer. I have to call back the papers helpline number instead.

This is a hacker. I was hacked through my microsoft account and they used a fake credit card to purchase credit and make calls through my Skype. Several calls on both (02) 9155 7700 and 0426 520 860. BEWARE. this is with federal police for follow up

It is Westpac, if you are not comfortable releasing your personal information, just ignore it and go to nearby branch.

Definitely a scammers number. He said he's calling from westpac alerting me that someone has recently tried to make a transaction from my account. When I challenged him he called me all the names under the sun and then laughed telling me 'hes rich off my money.''

Not Westpac ...called Westpac and they said they do not call you and that it would be a scam. Operator very convincing but once they asked for confirmation of my details I told them that I don't provide details by phone.

The caller from this line stated they were Westpac and calling due to an error in my account. I told them I would deal with my local branch in case they are scammers and no I would not provide any identifying information - however when I contacted both my local branch and Westpacs general enquiries line, they said there are no notes on my file that require action. SCAM - albeit a quite convincing one!

This is Westpac. If ever you get a call and you aren't sure, ask for salary number and then call their general number listed on all banking 132 032 and ask whoever answers to look it up and to be put through to the person.

Please do not call back or answer the number (02) 9155 7771. I believe that number used by hacker whom trying to grab your personel detail. later they will use your detail to login internet banking.
