Claimed to be StGeorge regarding suspecious activity on account. being previous employed by a major bank I knew this is a scam straight away. Banks dont call you they message internal through your bank account and App.
Be vigilant these F#$%@ing scammers are out to get your cash.

This is not a scam. It's Westpac disputes/CC fraud team.
They called to resolve a dispute that I had from a merchant charging my credit card. The only personal information I had to give was my first name, but once I talked to the guy calling, I knew they were legitimate because I knew I had open disputes waiting to be resolved with the bank.

They said they are calling from St George bank and validate whether I really issued a cheque, so they asked my personal information. It's really suspecious, so I ask her to leave down her contact no which she quoted 1800 061 547. This a IVR number claimed to be under Westpac. In order to verify the truth, I have directly called to St George bank's OFFICIAL hotline 133322. Finally, they said there is no problem on my cheque issued and asked me to ignore those SCAM. I am only curious why they knew immedidately after I issued the cheque yesterday, it didn't look like an coincidence. Did someone from Bank disclose my information to SCAM organization ?

Got message last night from St.George saying someone tried to use my card. Called and cancelled my card. This is not a scam. They didn't ask me for any information as they already knew my name.

Caller: WESTPAC FRAUD CENTRE

While I was sceptical at first, I did receive an SMS from WESTPAC only a little while before quoting the last 4 digits of my card number and this caller also left a message with correct details. I checked the WESTPAC web site for a real number and called them. The number is also on the back of my card. There were two fraud attempts on my card for low amounts and I confirmed with the WESTPAC fraud person that this number is one of many they use to call out so it is GENUINE. BUT TO BE SAFE ALWAYS CALL THEM AND I WILL ADMIT THEY WERE INSTANT IN STOPPING MY CARD AND ISSUING A NEW ONE.

This number is in fact WESTPAC. I ordered my new card and had the scammed one cancelled. Don't assume because you werent missing any money that the call was a scam. Call was to warn you they stopped the scam so you will not see this reflected in your account. Call Westpac and check before reporting a very important number as SCAM!
