I called back number (02) 9112 3891 spoke to a woman who said company name is Contact Center Australia.

The numbers that stay silent when you answer are often calling on different times over the day. All they do is finding out a time pattern about when the call gets answered. That info is then sold on to marketing companies.

If they are marketing why hang up. I don’t get it..,, what do these people get out of wasting a phone call to hang up or not talk. Are they able to hack into phone while we are awaiting a reply??

If you get a call and no one answers do not call them back. I believe they can put you through to other numbers to keep you on the phone as a way of charging you for the call. I guess this is more likely from mobiles. Or they may be recording your voice so dont say anything apart from Hello.

When you call back you get a nice recorded message. They are calling on behalf of one of their many nice clients NOT HAPPY

Called me once today. Couldn’t pick up. Later tried that number and found I am on don’t call register. Maybe scam.
