Claimed to be from Visa MasterCard security, said two debit amounts were on my card $349 & $499 for Amazon & online shopping. Asked if I wanted cancelled then asked me to confirm my bank. Wtf.. I hung up, checked my bank, tried to call number back but it came up as potential fraud and the number is unable to be contacted (disconnected)

Scam. A man with a thick Indian accent called and said his name was Craig from Visa and MasterCard security.
I replied of course you are.
He knew my name and said that someone had called Malcom Micheal had used my visa card details to purchase 2 items on Amazon one amount of $300 and another of $450.
He said would I like to talk to my bank about it and asked what bank that I had my account with. I told him that I am with the commonwealth bank, which I am not.
He gave me a reference number and insisted that I write the number down along with his name and the name of the person who had used my card and asked if I'd like to be transferred to the commonwealth bank fraud department.
I first said bloody oath, and he went sorry sir what was that so I said F@#k yeah. There was a pause as he appeared to be offended, he asked again and I said F@#k yeah again. He paused for longer then said that he wasn't understanding me. I said sorry yes I'd like to be transferred.
After pretending to transfer me another Indian man answered and said his name was Robert from the commonwealth bank security department and I said of course you are again.
He asked why I was calling and said that I'd been transferred from visa/ MasterCard security over suspicious activity on my card.
He asked who I'd spoken to, who had used my card and if I had a reference number. I told him that I'd been speaking to Sanjeeve about a Richard Wilkins using my card and gave him a totally different reference number, he said one moment I'll check that out. He pauses a few moments and says yes that's correct. I knew all along that's it was scam but I was curious to see how far that they'd go, so at this point I burst into laughter and told him that I had deliberately given him the wrong information and didn't even do any business with the commonwealth bank and hang up.
I've been having fun with some of these scammers lately. I figure that they were fishing for information and that they're not trying to hack my phone because they would've already done that if they could. So I know that they're paying for the call so I have recently been stringing them along whilst they're paying. And while I'm having a bit of fun with them that was 15 mins that they were not attempting to scam someone else.
On another note I got a scam call from Singapore the other day and the lady who called spoke better English than both of these sub continent jokers.

SCAMMER! Claimed to be from the NBN and my internet was being used insecurely - blah blah. I realised immediately it was a scam but tried to keep him on for a while to stop him scamming someone else. After a while I told him I wasn’t the best person to talk to about this so I’d put him on with the person who was - my preschooler. I let my munchkin wander around with phone for a while (supervised), then hung up.

Caller: “Charles” from ??

A person identifying themselves as Charles started telling me I needed to involve myself in a renewable energy rebate scheme. I cut him short and said “I don’t want to talk to you” but he hung up before I could add a couple of phrases I learned as an infantry corporal.
