Caller: Fake Telstra technician The scammers use Skype to make these calls that is why they are untraceable. If you block the number, they can still call but when you answer it's blank and call ends, well that's on an Apple device. Any telco or business, including Telstra that continue to use offshore call centres will have people working on the inside who feed these scam call centres our personal information or they are disgruntled ex-employees. I fell for one of these scammers because they said they were technical assistance from Telstra and I just happened to have called 2 days before to log an internet issue with Telstra and had left my details for a call back on the Telstra Service. I have always had trouble with my phone line and now NBN in my area. If feel like an imbecile but I suppose it was a lesson I had to learn to upgrade my security; unfortunately I don't know whether I will be involved in identity fraud in the future because my computer and phone was hacked. Scammers even use your mobile number which is off by one number to trick you in answering. If the media can locate these offshore scam callers why can't the Australian government.

An unsolicited call at home and no message was left on our voicemail.

I rejected the call
Telco's should introduce an option to charge-back scam callers to stop these annoying calls
The recipient of these calls should be able to press a button within 30 seconds of answering that enacts the charge-back. If the number cannot be traced, then the Telco get's charged for allowing scam calls on their network!
Governments Do Not Call Register is a waste of time

Caller: Scammer Calls received on landline and mobile all day that just hung up after a few seconds when you answered. Most times you could hear Indian call centre in background. That night call from another number asking if scam calls had been received and claiming they were from Telstra doing a clarification call. Told them they were scammers then hung up. Blocked the number on mobile but can’t do much for the landline.
