Caller: Claimed to be NBN Co. We had a similar call from other numbers today yesterday [ (07) 3858 7834 & (08) 7092 2581 ] also claiming to be from NBN Co about our NBN connection being upgraded from copper to fibre. I know that this is NOT a current activity in our area, but it is in some adjacent suburbs. In any case, NBN never calls residential users directly - your Internet Retail Services Provider (RSP) will make the contact. So this is a scam. They will request a variety of personal information, but will ultimately want your credit card information to charge you a small fee ( of around $3.99 ) to register to have this copper to fibre (FTTN to FTTH) upgrade. Don't do it, hang up, it's a scam ! If you have handed over your credit card details, you need to report it to both the police and your credit card bank/provider.

Woman with Indian accent pretending to be from telstra offering a 50% discount for the next 6 months. Scary part was she knew my name and date of birth. She sent a text to my mobile and asked me to read the 6 digit code to her. I said i had to go and hung up. Since then i've had about 6 missed calls from different numbers.
