Caller: Claimed to be NBN

Claimed to be from the NBN Co and that our property was to be upgraded from FTTN (i.e. old copper to the house from a Fibre-to-the-Node box further down the street), and that we needed to make an appointment for an NBN technician (and they provide a name and an NBN ID number for the technician) over the next 3 days, and that tomorrow 3 parcels would arrive by Australia post (1 was a new modem, 1 was a 120 mtr roll of optical fibre cable, the other was ??) and I wouldn't need to pay for any of that, but would need to pay $3.99 to register with NBN Co for the upgrade to proceed ! I had already researched in the last month about FTTN upgrades to FTTH (or FTTC) as that was announced about 6 weeks ago for adjacent suburbs, but not us. So this was clearly a scam, as NBN Co, as a wholesaler, does not contact residential users directly, nor does it provide new equipment directly to us, with or without cost.
