Called around dinner, they started with their monotonous speel.
I hung up they rang back roughy away to continue the speel!!
If someone hangs up move on!

Called at 7:50pm said he was from cancer research centre. Asked what state I live in and if I smoke cigarettes. When I said no, he said he was only interested in people who are in NSW and have recently given up smoking. Quick call but stroked me as odd.

I did receive the following message earlier in the day:
This is a message from the Social Research Centre on behalf of NSW Health. In the coming days, we will call to see if you can take part in an important health study. Reply '1' if you live in NSW or the ACT. Reply '2' if you do NOT live in NSW or the ACT. Reply '3' to Opt Out.

Caller: Mark and Sophie

I received 2 phone calls from this number trying to get my personal information for a study related to cancer research.

Caller: Mark from Social Research Centre.

Two calls (02) 9060 8476 and (02) 9060 8477).
Mark from Social Research Centre , apparently affiliated with a Sydney University) about cancer research. Said he wasn’t seeking donations but was calling re an earlier SMS I received. Asked if I smoked. When I said, “No.” he lost all interest.

Caller: Some guy

Some guy with an accent I could barely understand saying he was from the social research centre (whatever that is). I told him whatever it was I wasn't interested but he continued to give me a spiel about research so I hung up on him and he called straight back to continue. Like the other commenter said, "If someone hangs up move on!".

If this is a legit organisation, surely in this age of telephone scammers, they can find a better way of doing research than randomly calling numbers and asking personal questions of people.
