I called back number (02) 9051 2541 was put on hold music but no one answered the call.

That number called and when I answered, they hung up. I called them straight back and got an automated message saying it was Paypal and an amount of $299.99 was being deducted from my Paypal account. Then a scratchy voice (bad line) said he was calling from Paypal and there was a dodgy attempt to buy a gift card for $299.99 from my account, and did I authorise it? I said no, and I was asked if anyone from my family had access to my account? I said no. The line was really bad and difficult to hear him clearly. There were other male voices in the background, very like a call centre. He kept trying to ask me to put my phone on speaker phone. I told him I would hang up and call Paypal. I came to this site instead and saw all this information. Definite scam.
