got a call to ring tax office in canberra that i am entitled to $3000 after i filled in a tax survey. the truth is i never filled out a tax survey and only an answering machine but no one picks up when i called (02) 9037 8570. The accent on the answering machine is far from that of an australian citizen or resident. then i knew it was a scam.

I too have just received call from David??? advising me to ring this number so I could claim my grant. The reason I am receiving this grant is because I have paid all my government bills on time and have no criminal history for the whole of my life!!!!
I had to listen to the whole call just to see where it was going. Led him to beleive that I couldn't wait to call the number supplied.

JUST GOT A CALL  FROM THIS NUMBER , TOLD ME I WILL  RECEIVE $3500 FROM ATO AS  A REBATE FOR THE TAX I PAID IN THE PAST LOL

i got the same call just now!!had a feeling it was a hoax right from the beginning.what a loser!!

just got the same phone call-----its so unlikely for the line from canberra to be crackling....i didnt bother calling the number. this is really scary.

I just recieved a call in relation to being selected for a governement rebate for $4600 and so they had given me this number to call with a reference number.(02) 9037 8570Ref: J77612I called the Asutralia Tax office to double check that this was an scam. I was right, a complete scam!!!I then called the number provided and so they answered "Hello, Tax Office, how can I help you?"I told the guy that the Austalian government have been notified of the number and the scam.

Called saying owner's name was getting a rebate of some ammount, a few thousand or something like that.  "im calling you today from Canberra, from the Australian Tax Office".  Then used the name Michael Reynolds.... yeah man because the canberra line has a sydney number, and cars beeping their horns in the background.....broken english too surprise!

I called them again, now they said they're pizza hut, a third time they are South Africa....people like this dont even deserved to be fed to my dogs.
