Indian voice - claiming to be from the Road Traffic Authority - it is an "accident scam" - I now no longer say my name when answering as they usually just use that to repeat back making it seem like they know who you are.

His name was apparently John calling from the RTA. Alarm bells starting ringing. I asked for his number to call him back on. Then I check the number on this website - confirmed Scam. Within minutes "his colleague from the RMS called on number 9098-4480 wanting to confirm the details of the recent car accident. I said if this was legitimate then they can send me some forms to complete.

Spoke about a car accident which I have not had. Since my wife has previously received similar calls, I knew about the scam and hung up.

Claiming to be from RTA which immediately rings bells as it’s now RMS! Regarding a recent car accident. My car was not even registered in NSW with RMS. When I started asking questions they very quickly ended the call. Absolute scammers. And who is giving these people this information!!!

Road Traffic Authority my ass... When i answered they were laughing and then stated who they 'were'. Apparently i was in a car accident. I stated i havent been in an accident then gave me details of car i have never owned or driven in my life. I then proceeded to tell them to get their facts straight. Such a BS scam

Team of people , all indian Accent, said they were processing a claim, but dont have details of the accident that i had 1.5 years ago. they wanted location of the accident, number plate etc. When i wanted an email from them, so i know who they are, they still persist on getting my information on the phone. They also said it is paramount legals helping them process the compensation. They said they just need basic information about the accident and car, and they do need my bank details or they do not charge fees. they suggested that i am eligible of about $10k, and it is as per Aus law that i should get compensated. I insisted on the email to be sent out to me and they hang up promising the email

Similar to the others - call from someone with an Indian accent claiming to be from the RTA. Call was to my mobile. Asked about an accident I had 'this or last year'. I hung up and blocked the number.
Total scam.

Indian voice rang me stating that he was from the RTA and there was an accident involving me or a family member at this address. I asked him what accident, he repeated himself. I asked what the date of the accident was, he said I had to tell him. I asked him what address, he repeated that he was from the RTA, there was an accident involving blah blah blah. I pressed it - insisted he give me the address this accident was linked to, he suddenly stopped being able to hear me and then hung up.

I immediately got a call back from another Indian voice, this time on a private number, claiming that I was due compensation for an accident sometime in the last two years. I told him to stop calling me, he's full of sh*t and I'm at work, then hung up.

Just had a call from this number:

Indian accent I couldn't understand, so was put onto his superior.

Stated he was from the Road Traffic Authority and was calling to check on an accident I had. He asked me what date the accident occurred. To which I replied "You tell me, you've called me".

He then said "we have records for a *insert car type*".

I asked again where he was calling from. He repeated RTA.

Then said he just wanted to check I was Ok, and got damages.

I just said "yes its all fine" and hung up.

How did they even get this information?

Had these people try and call me using numerous methods e.g. viber, no caller ID and then finally normally. I have had these calls before asking if I have been in an accident in the last few years and that there was compensation involved. This is a scam - don't fall for it
