I called back number (02) 9030 0066 rang once then gets disconnected automatically.

Claims to be from peoples choice and says from an online registration you did, it is all crap

Said they were an energy comparison company - peoples choice, and wow, how exciting (yes I am sarcastic) that I am shortlisted to win a grocery coupon. I hope to know by next week if genuine or my details are misused.

I just don't answer and do a reverse check. That'll more than likely tell you if it's a spam numbet in which case this is.

Caller: claiming to be from people's choice

they called and just verified my details, including phone number, email address and postcode

Asked for me personally and then hung up, called back and disconnected immediately

This number is a spam, phishing number that is computer generated and uses Skype or such to bypass the Telco companies. I have it 3 times today.

Caller: said they were from peoples choice, wouldn't tell me how they got my number

Hung up when I asked how they got the number, can't return call. Says its from sydney but obviously not.

Spam / Marketing calling me 3 times a day around 11am to 7pm.

This number keeps calling me at various times (mornings, evenings) these past couple of weeks.
When I answer, they hang up. When I call them back it says "the number you are calling are temporally unavailable, please try later."
These unwanted unknown phone calls are very annoying!!!

I called back and got instantly disconnected

The caller knew my name, old address (more than 3 years ago) and DOB but I could not understand what he was saying so I asked the purpose of the call. He said something but I still could not understand, and then, he suddenly hang up the call.
I called back the number but it was disconnected automatically.
